ARE YOU READY FOR THIS
Plans for the Second Great Centennial of the Churches of the
Living God are energetically underway. Date: November 26-29, 2008.
Theme: Holy Ghost! Holy Ghost! Holy Ghost!
Residents old enough to remember and/or their descendants remember the First Great General Assembly of The Church of the Living God, the
Pillar and Ground of the Truth (I Timothy 3:15), held at Luke's Hall in
Greenville, Alabama and presided over
by the first female known to have founded and organized an
internationally recognized church and be elevated to the ecclesiastical rank of
bishop. The historical record indicates, In 1908, a great General Assembly was called by her [Mother Tate]
in Greenville, Alabama to which all the people round about assembled. Some walked twenty-five and thirty miles to
get there in this great meeting, which was not only the first assembly held
with our Church, but was also the first great Pentecostal Revival of the
Church. Nearly a hundred people
received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire. Some records indicate that over nine hundred people were in
attendance during the course of that first General Assembly in 1908.
It is anticipated that this great event will herald the beginning of renewed relationships among the various factions and dominions of the organization founded by Mary Lena Lewis Tate in 1903 and formally organized in 1908.It's time to start planning NOW for the big November 2008 event! preachers, buses, parade floats, choirs and music, flags, banners and other decorations, tapes, DVDs, videos, recorders, song ballads, etc., etc. [Centennial events are scheduled for the Dunbar Community Center, School Highland Road, Greenville, AL.] ALL ARE INVITED; PASS THE WORD ALONG!
