Established in 1924
The Church at Crystal River, Florida was started in 1924 by Elders L.L Franklin and M.E. Williams (later to become Bishops) who were appointed to come to Crystal River by Bishop F.E. Lewis, State Bishop. Sister Helen Middleton Matchett (later to become Bishop H.M. Lewis) was one of the primary movers in getting the organization located here. The early Church held its services, first, in a one-room frame structure; then, in a renovated old school house.
Several other church structures preceded the current temple pictured above. It was constructed under the pastorship of Elder Mildred E. Milton, her husband, and brother-in-law, Deacon Raleigh and Rev. Luke Milton. It was dedicated around 1978.
The current pastor, Rev. Christopher Satchell, assumed the post at Crystal River in 1990. He is the son of Elder K.V. Lewis Satchell, a pillar in the Church.
